At the IFS Institute for Software we research "Decremental Development". This means to simplify program code down to 10 % of its size with highly increased quality and without losing (essential) functionality. Refactoring is one of the techniques to achieve this goal, and automated unit testing is an enabler for refactoring. We work on Eclipse plug-ins providing these techniques for languages lacking refactoring support.

• Ruby development tools (RDT) includes our refactoring plug-in.
• PyDev includes refactorings and generators implemented by IFS' students.
• For C++ development tools (CDT) we provide a unit testing plug-in, a preliminary refactoring plug-in and work on further refactoring support within CDT.
